Worked as the lead DevOps Engineer on the Production Operations team at Metromile. Led several initiatives to improve existing infrastructure while staying current with modern technologies. Proactively triaged production issues across the organization, supporting engineers and their services. • Led the creation of a new AWS multi-account strategy with a focus on Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), resource isolation, security, and developer productivity. Developed a networking layout and scheme to provide unified networking across regions and tenants, enforcing network security and reducing IP space requirements, while integrating with both existing networking and a new VPN solution. Created a single sign-on (SSO) setup, integrated with the company-wide identity provider (IdP), to simplify access controls into roles and policies for users. Oversaw the adoption of Kubernetes, superseding the previous ECS clusters. • Migrated hundreds of code repositories from a self-hosted Bitbucket Server instance to GitLab cloud. Created several automation tools to perform the migration, covering validation, conflict resolution, and updates to existing CI/CD jobs. Helped onboard users to the new platform. • Mentored fellow operations engineers on performing operations across different systems. Guided application software engineers on best practices across multiple disciplines, with a focus on monitoring, reliability, security, and application architecture. • Ensured compliance via routine operations and providing technical support to the organization.

• Spearheaded the adoption of Datadog for monitoring and alerting, providing a single pane of glass to both applications and servers, while also introducing features like distributed tracing. Performed the initial evaluation of Datadog as the new monitoring platform. Created a turn-key Docker image for developers to effortlessly integrate their new applications into Datadog. Provided onboarding, guidance, and support to developers, ensuring a smooth adoption across the engineering organization. • Led the adoption of Stitch to replicate data from service databases into Snowflake, configuring replication for dozens of database servers. Ensured security by creating SSH bastions to allow for secure, restricted access to our database servers. Documented the onboarding process for new databases and provided support. • Created and executed a DNS migration from legacy Bind servers to AWS Route 53 private zones, providing a stable, unified, and easy-to-use system for managing internal DNS records. • Received recognition for leading DNS migration and data warehouse performance improvements and cost reductions, and assisted engineering and non-engineering teams.

Worked as a Software Engineer at Fauna on the customer-facing engineering team across a variety of projects and multiple programming languages. • Designed a Spark-based analytics solution for usage-based billing for the FaunaDB cloud service, including log collection, storage, aggregation, and end customer billing and payments. • Migrated containerized legacy services over to Kubernetes, running on top of Google Kubernetes Engine, with minimal downtime. • Wrote and worked on several drivers for FaunaDB across multiple languages. Set up CI automation for testing and releasing of the drivers. • Designed, implemented, and executed a custom data repair tool to fix an operational database after a data integrity issue, without taking the system offline. • Designed and implemented a Helm-based automated staging system for internal development and verification needs. • Relaunched Fauna's Rails-based marketing and account management website. Provided post-launch technical support of the website with bug fixes and feature additions.

Worked as a consultant for Fauna, Inc remotely from the Chicago area. • Migrated the company's internal chat from a public IRC network to a private, internally run IRC server. • Developed a Scala-based replacement for the account tenancy authentication proxy for their product, FaunaDB. • Implemented account-management features for the FaunaDB website and handled deploying it into production using Ansible.
