Vaughn Vreeland

I write the weekly baking newsletter, Bake Time, for New York Times Cooking. Along with this, I host a monthly video series by the same name, develop recipes, write articles and make regular media appearances as a New York Times representative.

As a member of the Tasty Talent squad, I have the opportunity to grow my personal brand harmoniously with that of Tasty’s. I work with brand partners and external development, all while keeping my position as a show producer and developer for Tasty Studios.

I ideate, pre-produce, write recipes, film, cook, and edit videos for Tasty at BuzzFeed. In my four months as a fellow, my videos garnered over 100 million views. As a junior producer, much of my day-to-day relies on the changing winds of food culture. Look out for my hands!

I taught English language and conversation to over 200 university students at Eastern Technological College in Thailand. I facilitated their learning of conversational techniques and prepared them for the international workforce once they graduate.

Being a Campus Visit Assistant, I supervised 130 Elon University tour guides. I created and oversaw the campus visit schedule for 13,000 annual visitors, I helped coordinate admissions events and was charged with the hiring process of over 400 tour guide applicants. I also headed up digital media production, creating a promotional video for campus visit and other various media to promote the internal organization. I frequently used Adobe Photoshop and InDesign for graphic design and Premiere for video production.

As a University Guide, I regularly greeted and gave tours to prospective students and families of Elon University. I was charged with special group tours and VIP tours during my tenure as a guide. When not on tour I conducted office work, answered phones, filed and prepared information to send by mail from the Elon University Office of Admissions.

I served as a public relations point of contact for media involving Elon University. I produced content for E-Net Elon University News & Information, conducted interviews and wrote human interest pieces and news briefs. I also organized university databases and certain social media accounts.

Lightweights is an online web series produced at Elon University. In terms of creative direction, I designed and built sets, costumed characters and assisted certain technical aspects of production.

I was a summer 2014 intern at The Daily Front Row in New York City. In this position, I created content for the website, assisted writers and editors with interview transcriptions, attended numerous events in New York for web coverage and assisted creative directors and stylists on photo shoots.

In my 16 months at Red Hot and Blue, I served as a main host on Friday and Saturday evenings. I regularly greeted restaurant patrons as they walked through the door, coordinated seating charts and waiting lists and delegated responsibility to secondary hosts. I also bussed tables and ran and prepared food from the kitchen to various tables.

I participated in a direct enrollment program during the fall 2013 semester.
