I am a physician , former CMO, public speaker, health policy expert, board member and advisor to public and private corporations, educator, and published scientist and currently serve as Clinical Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine, where I specialize in pain medicine, regional anesthesia and ultrasound guided interventional procedures. I am passionate about providing patient-centered care, advancing precision medicine, and mentoring the next generation of medical professionals. I hold an MD degree, a Master's in Academic Medicine Education, and am board-certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine. I have secret clearance from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). In addition to my academic role, I served as the Chief Medical Officer at the US Department of Health and Human Services in the executive branch as SES-PA with Secret clearance, where I also was chairperson of the high-profile Best Practices Inter-Agency Opioid and Pain Management Task Force, which delivered a final report to Congress in 2019 from the CARA act (Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act of 2016). I served as Acting Regional Health Administrator for the western U.S Region 9 which included CA, NV, AZ, HI Guam, Micronesia. I have authored multiple publications, congressional and federal reports, book chapters, and papers on various topics related to ultrasound guided interventions, pain management, illicit fentanyl/drug crisis, public health and policy. I have received several awards and honors for my leadership and vision in the field including the Lifetime Achievement Award (ASIPP), Presidential Commendation and Philip Lippe Award of AAPM, and Women's leadership awards. I regularly appear on national and local media outlets to share my insights and expertise. I currently serve as a medical advisor, consultant and independent board member in various public, private and non-profit capacities. I am asked to regularly appear on media including Fox Business, MSNBC, ABC News, Newsy, Fox-KTVU on a range of topics including COVID-19, #illicit fentanyl crisis, pain management and have been extensively published in national publications including Washington Post, the Hill, Stat News, & others. I have been profiled for for leadership in TIME, Silicon Valley Magazine, Economic Times of India, Gentry Magazine, and various other media. Dr Singh is the immediate former chief medical officer of the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health & served as primary medical advisor to the Assistant Secretary of Health on the development and implementation of HHS_wide public health policy recommendations. The office of the Assistant Secretary for Health includes 11 core public health offices, including the Office of the Surgeon General, 12 advisory committees, and 10 regional offices. Dr Singh's portfolio includes issues related to pain medicine, including opioid use and misuse; medical ethics; and public health. She was publicly named the Chair of the Best Practices Inter-agency Task Force from the CARA legislation to address acute and chronic pain in lieu of the opioid crisis. The Pain Management Best Practices Inter-Agency Task Force was established to propose updates to best practices and issue recommendations that address gaps or inconsistencies for managing chronic and acute pain. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is overseeing this effort with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and U.S. Department of Defense. The Task Force, which was authorized by section 101 of the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act of 2016 - PDF, also provided the public with public commentary on proposed updates and recommendations to develop a strategy for disseminating information about best practices. The Final Report was released to Congress, federal agencies, and the public on May 30, 2019.
