I became involved in animal nutrition when my golden retriever, Jackson was poisoned at 18 months old and nearly died. I searched for quality food and could not find any acceptable foods as I believed nutrition was the answer for him. Hence, my research about nutrition. I located several books about animal nutrition, particularly, a book by Dr. Ian Billinghurst who believes that Evolutionary Nutrition was the only nutritional program able to promote and sustain genuine health. His first book, ❝Give Your Dog a Bone❞ was published in late 1993 and is one of the most influential books on canine nutrition ever written, discussing why raw food is the ideal diet for dogs. I started Love Your Pet Bakery in 1990 selling raw food from a storefront in Park City, Utah. I started working with chicken, turkey, beef, and lamb. Eventually, I decided to change to local, organic, grass-fed elk, bison, and venison. Today we offer six varieties of food, some with vegetables for both dogs and cats, including wild salmon and employ 5-15 people. There are approximately 500+ direct customers located in 11 states and two large distributors from Florida, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. I take pride in advising and helping clients with their ailing pets. One of my clients came to me for advice about a very sick dog who was five years old. This dog lived to be 16 years old. I take a holistic approach to healing. Love Your Pet was a finalist for the 2018 American Small Business Championship.
