Co-facilitated a 1-day focus group to determine requirements for a new designation certification course for customs brokers. Developed course layout and task analysis.

Assessment, design and development of a 5-day instructor-led course for 9-1-1 Telecommunication Operator New Hires, 4-week follow-up Training, and two-day Refresher Training. Assessment of existing training was a critical step with the goal of designing a new course to be part of a certification program to be offered throughout Nova Scotia.

Instructional design for English WCAG 2.0 AA compliant interactive online learning course - Access to Information and Privacy Fundamentals. The course is designed to provide learners with a basic understanding of the importance, within the Government of Canada, of the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act. It is also intended to help learners fulfill their responsibilities with regard to the protection of personal information as outlined in the various Treasury Board acts, policies and guidelines.

DND had a requirement to develop an operationally focused procurement-related technical session to meet the needs of contracting for deployed and domestic operations. The session consisted of experiential-focused activities that incorporated the foundational elements of procurement with lessons-learned driven scenarios. This performance-support based approach (in addition to the existing procurement / contracting-driven training) provided the Logistics Branch Integrator (LBI) with an improved ability to generate a cadre of Logisticians with the requisite procurement skills to effectively provide operational contracted support solutions.

Designed and developed a 5-day Operational Procurement scenario-based session to meet the needs for deployed and domestic operations, and a certification exam for the session. Target audience was logistics officers.

Converted a two-day classroom-based training program (which SBM initially developed in 2006) on compliance promotion for virtual delivery via a series of webinars.

The French Resource Centre (FRC) of the Ottawa Heart Institute hired Valerie and her company SBM, to redesign and redevelop its partially developed multi-media web-based training (WBT) French Language Training Course that is specific to provincial health care professionals’ language needs.

* The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer required professional services to develop and evaluate training courses for internal support network advisors (responding to calls from Returning Officers (RO, Assistant Returning Officers (ARO), and their support staff) in preparation for the 42nd federal general election. * Tasks included: *  Review and evaluate current manuals and teaching aids intended for all learners *  Identify training/performance requirements *  Identify learning objectives for each group of learners *  Propose course architecture for each group of learners *  Design material (teaching aids, presentations, guide books) using proven adult learning principles *  Specify instructional strategies *  Plan “Train the Trainer’’ sessions * Propose and assist in the creation of evaluation tools for the training sessions being delivered to groups of learners

Provided learning services to assist with the development of the PREP: Core Training Program: Co-designed and developed a one-day course for new CFIA inspectors on Managing Difficult Conversations. One half-day devoted to role plays. Co-designed and developed “Talking Work!” -a one-day course designed to provide CFIA Supervisors with the knowledge and skills required to conduct work conversations with their employees, including talent management discussions.
