About
Open position(s) in my team - 01/28 - https://apply.careers.microsoft.com/careers/job/1970393556745955 I research and develop ideas to make the Internet *secure* and *scalable*. At Microsoft Azure, I am fortunate to work with a group that is transforming how complex networks function - from the ground up! My team focuses on some of the most challenging aspects of a cloud based operating system and its ability to do on-the-fly upgrades without causing a second of impact to the customers! Great challenges and innovative solutions are discussed on a daily basis! https://azure.github.io/SONiC/ Research: I enjoy R&D and I use engineering as an enabling tool to do some pretty cool and impactful things! Some of my past work has been published in ACM/IEEE conferences hosted within USA, Canada and Germany. Granted CVEs (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures): DoS and APT attack: https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2018-1078 DDoS attack: https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2017-1000411 Cache Poisoning: https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2017-1000406 Competitions: Western Regional Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition: Team ASU stood third in best defense category. Interests: Complex distributed systems and networks. Pentesting distributed networks and applications. Embedded systems - kernel development. However, it's been years since I have gotten my hands dirty on any green board now. Miss the fun. Skills: Everything cloud ☁️ - new, old and obsolete.

Software Engineer II
Redmond, Washington, United States
I make software for an Operating System by Microsoft, but not the Windows, this is an OS for Azure! It's called SONiC, a unique Linux based OS, that has become a phenomenon in the cloud networking space. This project is also entirely open source! Specifically, I contribute to the one of the most customer critical aspect of network: hitless upgrade of software, containers and services. My work often involves all the aspects of developing a Containerized Operating System and maintaining a scalable Data Center Network. It has been a very rewarding and exciting journey so far! https://sonic-net.github.io/SONiC/ https://github.com/sonic-net/SONiC/wiki

I enjoyed working for an ISP which underwent a paradigm change involving massive network architectures managed by software. I had great fun at Comcast where I built: =====> Python based network automation framework responsible for feature testing Internet router devices. An ISP uses different routing devices from different vendors involving different ways to interact with them. I contributed majorly in designing and developing this framework with special focus on generalization and extensibility. Tech leveraged - Protocols (ISIS/BGP/LDP/LLDP/RSVP/etc), Python3, Object Oriented Design, GRPC, GNMI, ROBOT Framework, Jenkins, Groovy, etc. =====> A centrally-orchestrated scalable-security solution. The challenge is to design a system which transforms the legacy security management into a homogenous API-based solution, agnostic to the heterogenous network ecosystem (public/private cloud, K8S, legacy hw, etc). Tech Leveraged - Go Lang, ProtoBuf, Redis, Docker, K8S, AWS, etc. =====> State Machine prototype. We got it open-sourced - https://github.com/Comcast/Fred-Framework

Graduate Research Assistant
Tempe, Arizona
Graduate Research Assistant at the Laboratory of Security Engineering for Future Computing (SEFCOM) at Arizona State University. Advisors: Dr. Gail-Joon Ahn, Dr. Adam Doupé Field of research: Software defined Networking | Security | Control and Data Plane Work: Challenging state of security in Internet architectures. A security framework for the academic demilitarized zone at ASU (ScienceDMZ). Integeration of OpenStack with ODL controller to provide HoneyNet and Policy based Firewall services for the tenants. Automatic policy enforcements, violation detection and dynamic Openflow based resolution.

Senior Software Engineer
Bengaluru Area, India
A crucial asset of Wi-Fi connectivity team. Developed WLAN device drivers and host software. Technologies learnt: Linux kernel internals, IEEE 802.11(a, b, g and ac), MAC layer protocol and Wi-Fi Direct. Worked well in a team and also as an independent owner of SoftAP driver: responsible for timely delivery of Wi-Fi AP features and bug fixing of the software.
