Tyseer Aboulnasr

Dr Aboulnasr is Retired Professor of Electrical Engineering and former Dean of Engineering/Applied Science in Canada. She received the Bachelor of Engineering degree from Cairo University, Egypt, M.Sc. and Ph. D. degrees from Queen's University, Kingston, Canada; all in Electrical Engineering. She was Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science, University of British Columbia and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Ottawa. She is a recipient of the prestigious Order of Ontario (Canada). She was elected Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada and Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering. She was named as one of the 100 most influential people in Ottawa, Canada’s capital and of the 100 most influential women in British Columbia, Canada. Dr. Aboulnasr also received the Ottawa-Carleton YWCA Women of Distinction Award (Education)in 1999. After retiring, she received the Queen’s diamond Jubilee Award and was recognized as the ASME Egypt Woman of the Year (Egypt) and was recently Recognized by President Sissi as one of 10 professional women honoured by the National Council of Women (Egypt). . She is currently retired from academia in Canada and has been working to support the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology ASRT in Egypt in its efforts to create the necessary environment and supporting initiatives to drive a culture of foresighting, system thinking and evidence- based decision making, entrepreneurship and innovation/technology transfer to address Egypt’s challenges, She has advised Nile University Technology Transfer office in its initial stages. More recently, she worked to establish the Northern Africa Applied System Analysis Centre NAASAC focused on evidence based decision making housed at the Institute of National Planning, It was established as a collaboration with ASRT and the prestigious International Institute of Applied System Analysis IIASA (Laxenberg, Austria). She is its senior advisor.
