Tyler Cyr

As part of the Collegiate Ambassador Team (CAT) for Monster Energy at the University of Delaware, I am responsible for promoting brand products to students through social media platforms and engaging in product sampling at campus and charity events. Monthly, I will distribute 350+ products, gather student feedback, and report on activity and learnings from customers. This role provides me with hands-on marketing experience while allowing me to connect with the UD community and contribute to the growth of a globally recognized brand.

As a member of the Alumni Committee for the Alpha Xi Chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity, I have been responsible for communicating with alumni brothers to organize social events that strengthen and create bonds across generations of our brotherhood. I have also assisted in fundraising efforts that engaged our alumni and helped reinforce the chapter’s financial foundation.

As Brotherhood Chair, I am responsible for strengthening chapter unity by planning and coordinating events for active brothers. I work to ensure these events build on the connection, communication, and sense of community that our chapter has.

As a member of the Recruitment Committee for the Alpha Xi Chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity, I have been responsible for helping plan and organize both formal and informal recruitment events, communicating with potential new members, and most importantly, evaluating members to determine their fit within the fraternity, ensuring the chapter’s future success.

This summer, I worked at Kingman Yacht Center as a Launch Operator and Dockhand, transporting passengers to and from moorings aboard a 26-foot vessel using the United States Coast Guard Limited Master (Launch Operator) license I earned this year. I also assisted vessels up to 70+ feet, which included charging customers for various services and products, and then reconciling at the end of every day. The role sharpened my leadership and teamwork skills, while reinforcing the importance of customer service, clear communication, collaboration, and above all, safety—for both passengers and vessels. I learned how to remain calm and decisive in high-pressure situations, taking responsibility for the well being of everyone on board. I’m grateful to the Kingman Yacht Center team for this experience and look forward to applying these lessons as I continue my studies at the University of Delaware.

Over the past couple of summers, I’ve had the opportunity to work at Freedom Boat Club as a Dockhand. In this role, I operated and maintained vessels ranging from 18 to 24 feet in length and valued collectively at over a million dollars. I was also responsible for training clients and new crew members on safety protocols to reduce risk and liability, while ensuring client satisfaction and retention through excellent service. This experience has enabled me to strengthen my leadership and teamwork skills while highlighting the importance of customer service, effective communication, and, most importantly, the safety of operators, passengers, and all vessels on the water. I am thankful for the Freedom Boat Club team over the past summers and am excited to carry these lessons forward into school and my future career.

Back in 8th grade, I founded T Jobs 4 Seasons, a small business providing landscaping, snow removal, pet care, and basic home maintenance for my local community. I was able to advertise services through email and in-person communication, which allowed me to build a loyal customer base. This experience has taught me the value of clear communication, consistency, and excellent customer service while also giving me early exposure to entrepreneurship. These lessons have continued to shape how I approach new opportunities and reinforce the importance of my strong work ethic.
