Hi, I'm Tushar Sial, a 2nd-year Master’s student in Aerospace Engineering at Iowa State University. My enduring curiosity for Control Systems led me to major in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani. My undergraduate and master’s research experiences have helped me identify my interests in bridging astrodynamics, control theory, optimization, and stochastic systems to advance the Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) architectures of aerial and space systems & robots, enabling autonomous decision-making in uncertain environments. Apart from this, I also keep a keen interest in Electric vehicles. My hobbies include trekking, cricket, badminton, running, and cycling.

Graduate Research Assistant

I'm researching at the intersection of Stochastic Systems, Dynamics & Control, and Optimization under Professor Abhishek Halder. My thesis is focused on designing an Optimal Covariance Steering Algorithm in Continuous Time with Hilbert-Schmidt Terminal Cost for Linear Stochastic Systems over a finite time horizon. In addition to this, I've contributed to the design and testing of generative profiling algorithms for adaptive resource allocation and scheduling tasks on single and multicore real-time embedded systems. This project was in collaboration between researchers from the University of California Santa Cruz, Iowa State University, and the University of Pennsylvania.

DevSecOps Engineer

I worked as a DevSecOps engineer at the Digital Factory vertical of the IT team at HDFC Bank, Bengaluru. My primary tasks involved designing, maintaining & securing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Git, Kubernetes, and Docker. In addition to this, I was also tasked with implementing infrastructure-as-code (IAC) principles using tools like Terraform and Ansible, ensuring secure and compliant cloud environments.

Electrical Engineer

I'm one of the founding members of CRISS Robotics (Consortium for Research in Space Systems), a student research technical team at BITS Pilani comprising 50+ members for designing and manufacturing an all-terrain 6-wheeled Mars Rover for the University Rover Challenge at Utah Desert in June 2024. In the team, I majorly worked on designing the drive system of the Rover and contributing to developing the High-level Electrical Architecture of the Rover.
