I lead a team of academics to deliver the Professional Doctorate in Health Research which attracts candidates from the health and allied health arena. Specifically, I deliver research methods training to equip candidates with the skills to develop their individual research methodology. I currently supervise eight doctoral candidates. My own research focuses on emergency care particularly concerning the interface between primary care, emergency department and acute sector services. I collaborate with universities, pre-hospital organisations and NHS Trusts to secure research funding applications from major funding bodies and research protocols responsive to the national emergency care agenda. I am keen to support public involvement in research. In my role as Consultant Editor of the RCN Emergency Nurse Journal I welcome manuscripts and enquiries on news items about all aspects of emergency, urgent and pre-hospital care.
