With the mission “To promote student development and empower the campus community around issues of diversity and social justice through the lens of race and ethnicity” MESA provides support to all students through programming and strive to meet the multicultural center needs of students. Director of Diversity & Inclusion (2010 - 2014) I lead diversity efforts for over 11,000 residents and 400 employees of University Housing which include the design and delivery of training sessions, workshops, courses, and personnel consultations. In addition, I actively participate in strategic visioning, departmental decision making and policy development as a part of Housing senior leadership team. Our diversity portfolio includes: - Coordinator of Diversity Education - the Diversity Peer Educator (DPE) program - an 11-week social justice course for over 200 newly hired residential staff - bias response both in Housing and across campus - all minority-cultural and multicultural lounges that create safe spaces for residents and staff.

Assisted the Director of Housing in the leadership and management of the first residence hall on the Flint campus, opened in Fall 2008. During my time at Flint, I created and coordinated living learning program in collaboration with Academic Affairs that focused on retaining at-risk and first-generation college students. Oversaw the summer conference program and served on critical incident team for the campus.

Shared in the leadership and management of 17 residence halls housing up to 9,600 students. Direct leadership included six residence halls numbering approximately 3000 residents. Provided direction and expertise to the development and delivery of a range of programs and services designed to enhance the multicultural, educational, and social experiences of residence hall students. Provided leadership to Michigan Learning Communities in collaboration with deans and faculty from the University’s School of Literature, Science and Arts.

University Housing - Provided student-centered leadership in an all-female residence hall environment which included supervision of student and professional staff, crisis intervention and fiscal management. In addition, advised the Residence Halls Association student government representing the 9,500 students living on-campus.

Developed and coordinated all instructional technology efforts in the Law School, which included online course material and distance learning initiatives. Leadership also included supervision of staff who provided end-user technical support and serving as project manager on significant renovation projects.

Implemented the use of technology into the Pharmacy curriculum alongside the Associate Dean and Chair of the Curriculum Committee. Designed, launched and evaluated the College’s first distance education efforts.
