Provided outpatient and bedside psychological services to children and adolescents with asthma, cystic fibrosis, osteogenesis imperfecta, and PCD through the Pulmonary Behavioral Medicine Clinic under the supervision of Dr. Lewin and Dr. Lawless.

Provided outpatient behavioral health services to clients with type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, epilepsy, Lyme Disease, and other endocrine disorders under the supervision of Dr. Parrish.

As an intern with the Creative and Therapeutic Arts Services, our department promotes wellness through self-expression at bedside, the atrium and groups.

By promoting leisure activities and art therapy, children admitted to the psychiatric unit and medical units are given a space which enables them to express feelings, communicate, and relax all in a context of illness and departure from their usual environment.

St. Elizabeths Hospital is the District’s public psychiatric facility for individuals with serious and persistent mental illness who need intensive inpatient care to support their recovery. St. Elizabeths also provides mental health evaluations and care to patients committed by the courts. The Hospital develops a personalized treatment plan to help each patient achieve the highest quality mental health outcomes. As an art therapist intern, I assisted with patient therapy sessions in individual and group settings. I attended patient treatment plan meetings and presented on clients. I conducted case study research assessments and assist with patient progress notes.

During my internship at Child and Family Psychology with Dr. Douglas Riley in the summer of 2012, I learned cognitive behavioral therapy techniques to observe outpatient private practice utilizing individual and family therapy sessions.
