When shooting, Tom combines a personable nature that sets subjects at ease with sharp technical skills. He has a knack for knowing how to conjure just the right image for the right moment, whether that is the sensitivity he showed when covering the events during and following Sept. 11, drawing out an executive's true personality in a corporate portrait, or even getting just the right shot of a frosting-covered face at a two year old's birthday party. For Tom, the moment is truly king, and he is passionately dedicated to recording the right moment the right way. History is always subjective, and every moment holds the potential to be that subject's favorite moment in history. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University where he earned degrees in both Photojournalism and History. Upon graduation, Tom joined the Journal News in White Plains, N.Y. as a staff photographer. During his eight years at the Gannett paper, he was able to photograph a wide variety of subjects, stories and people. He has covered international news stories like September 11, celebrities such as James Earl Jones, all major New York City professional sports teams, as well as covering a variety of local news stories. In 2008 Tom changed directions and took a management position with NHL Images in New York City, where he served as the liaison between the league, team photographers, the 30 member clubs and outside media. After spending the entirety of his professional career driving from one assignment to the next, Tom established a new home in his cubicle on ice. In 2010, Tom stepped back behind the lens and returned to his love of photography. He has once again begun to document people’s history working as a freelance photographer based in Rockland County New York.
