Masters' thesis entitled "Unravelling the Role of Peripheral Innervation in the Intestine: an In Vitro Approach" supervised by Dr. Paul Wieringa and PhD candidate Kike Escarda-Castro. - Explored the effect of PNS neuropeptides in a 2D intestinal epithelium model under different inflammatory conditions - Designed and optimized a novel protocol to derive autonomic neurospheres from hiPSCs - Developed and implemented a 3D gut-on-a-chip platform to study peripheral innervation in vitro

Summer internship supervised by Dr. Margarida Serra. Learned about the use and optimization of 3D culture systems (stirred-tank bioreactors) to expand human iPSCs and harvest their byproducts (extracellular vesicles) with therapeutic potential.

Bachelors' thesis entitled "Modulation of Extracellular Vesicles for Regenerative Medicine" supervised by Dr. Hugo Fernandes and PhD candidate Carlos Jesus. Assessed the in vitro bioactivity and internalization of bioengineered urinary extracellular vesicles for cardiac protection and regeneration.

Summer internship supervised by Dr. Teresa Fidalgo. Learned about the molecular and biochemical studies performed to clarify the diagnosis and phenotype modulating factors of hematological pathologies.
