Tom Mercer

Manatii Rum was born following the devastation of Hurricane Dorian that hit The Bahamas in 2019. We were founded with two main aims: - To donate £2 from every bottle sold directly to charities in the Caribbean to help communities recover from hurricanes. - To inject colour and vibrancy into a somewhat outdated and stale market. Roles include: - Creating the business and working with accountant to keep on top of bookkeeping. - Selling the rum into the on/off-trade. - Activation events with bars, restaurants and pubs to train and educate staff. - Formulation of a business plan and managing 4 team members. - Customer-facing roles, such as selling at markets/fairs/festivals.

Working as bar or waiting staff at major events across the UK, such as ATP Finals, Queens, Lords.

Worked as an English Assistant during my Year Abroad at University. Supported teachers across different departments in preparing and conducting lessons. Supported both high-flying students, and those in need of extra help, with their English language skills.

Working as a matchday host across the hospitality section of St James' Park, ensuring that clients feel welcomed and looked after.

Working in the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation for a week. Shadowing staff members and taking sports sessions in schools and at the training ground.
