Held official position and worked with local school children in garden projects, led three sister demonstrations for local middle school and built an organic garden for The Marriot in Cleveland. • Sustainable Energy Review Board- 2010-2012- Student board member- helped introduce reusable to-go containers for the cafeteria, installation of PepsiCo dream machines and budgeting for decisions to commit 100% to wind energy purchasing. It was a great experience to know how a board committee operates as well as insight into how campus based proposals pass and fail.

Hands on student led energy audit - Organized data from the audit project to present in the form of excel graphs and PowerPoint presentations - Assisted in changing the science curriculum of the 4th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade to incorporate more environmental and energy science classes for the entire Erie public school district - Successfully presented the audit project and accomplishments of the project to the Erie School District Board of Trustees to gain further approval and support with the ongoing project - Developed and assisted in planning and programs to keep the project itself sustainable and researched funding opportunities Senior Project- Wind Turbine for Campus -Created a solution for Mercyhurst’s green building design of its newest academic building. -Presented my proposal to faculty and board of trustees -Had to alter and restructure proposal to meet sudden funding cuts -Worked directly with Urban Green Energy Company and local installation and parts provider companies to minimize upfront, installation and soft costs Climate Action Plan -Member of student lead and faculty advised group that oversaw the restructuring of the campus’s climate action plan -Presented the new plan to faculty, students, University President, local politicians and local media on campus and released the new expected cut in campus net CO2 emissions for the future -Alterations to the original climate action plan allowed for new goals to be set for the campus a few years after previous plans have taken root. I gained valuable experience researching new ways to simultaneously make the campus more sustainable and efficient; further familiarized myself with data collection and analysis pertaining to energy efficiency and CO2 emission calculation.
