I had the privilege of studying under Professor John Stephan and others at the University of Hawaii for a year. From Prof. Stephan, I learned much about the Russian Far East, Japanese history, and the craft of the historian.

As a political reporter and a general assignment reporter in Atlanta and Chicago bureaus and reporter/researcher in Nation section at New York, I reported on a broad array of topics including American investment in China and Masters champion Nick Faldo.

I ensure that visitors to a major aerospace company get safely and smoothly to their next rendezvous with destiny. My roles include serving as a guide, diplomat, mediator, problem solver, and human relations emollient. Every month, I am the first point of contact for visitors from China, Japan, Russia, France, and several other countries, taking the time to enrage with them, inform them, and reassure them.

As NBCNews.com writer on Supreme Court decisions, my site-leading story on the Supreme Court's decision to uphold the Affordable Care Act had more than 3.7 million page views, 99,000 Facebook recommendations and 12,000 comments. A few days earlier my site lead on the Supreme Court's decision on the Arizona immigration law received more than 1.5 million page views. I conceive and write analytical assessments, such as one explaining how different measures of spending affect the “austerity” debate. I conceived, reported and wrote a user-friendly guide to the 2008 primaries and general elections, Elections A to Z. During the congressional debate over the Affordable Care Act, I wrote the daily “Dose of Reality” blog to answer readers’ questions about the effect of the law on their health care. I have appeared as a guest analyst on MSNBC’s NewsNation with Tamron Hall, To the Point with Warren Olney on Public Radio International, POTUS Politics on Sirius XM Satellite Radio, and ABC Radio’s John Batchelor Program.

I conducted in-depth interviews with members of Congress for Congressional Quarterly, CQ.com & CQ/RollCall and wrote profiles of members which assessed their legislative priorities, their work on local needs and priorities in their districts, and their activities on the floor and in committees. I conducted extensive electoral, economic and demographic research on congressional districts in order to explain to readers each member’s focus and how well he or she suited their district. From June 2014 to March 2015, I wrote CQ Roll Call's transportation blog The Container, reporting on aviation, railroads, highways, and other transportation modes and federal regulation of transportation. I provided daily reporting on regulatory and safety agencies, including the National Transportation Safety Board.
