Tisha Lighty-Cain

Throughout my career, I have contributed to impacting business outcomes and the safety of our food supply, by adhering to the agency’s mission. This has been completed through effective organization, prioritization, investigation, observation, and ensuring the execution of all regulatory requirements. I have had training, coursework, and/or experience in the following: Recalls, FSA Assessments, HACCP, SSOP, Good Manufacturing Practices, Statistical Analysis, Microbiology, Pathology, Airborne Disease, Biology, Chemistry, and Ante/Postmortem. In my Consumer Safety Inspector role, I exercise a calculated and methodical approach to problem-solving. I am independently motivated, yet I appreciate team efforts and collaborate productively within groups. Additionally, I am knowledgeable in compliance and reporting with proficiency in data analysis and writing reports. During my tenure, I have received many cash awards, time -off awards, and other awards. I have, also, received many ‘Superior’ and even an ‘Outstanding’ appraisal rating. I have volunteered to lead and assist in different things within FSIS, including assisting with Outreach groups. I have volunteered at the Pennsylvania Farm Show, as one of the public contacts. Several of my written articles as been published in several newsletters and throughout the agency. Since 2012, I have been part of the Equal Employment Opportunity Advisory Committee and appointed as the Special Emphasis Coordinator. As of 2016, I serve a dual assignment position. My other held position is as the National Special Emphasis Program Manager for Women, and this position works under the Civil Rights division. I am also, our local union's Vice President and Treasurer.
