Manage a group of scientists to identify and characterize therapeutic antibody leads (naked antibody and antibody drug conjugates) in the area of oncology (solid tumors, hematological diseases, immuno-oncology space, etc.), oversee in vivo efficacy studies, biomarker discovery, involved in various stages of preclinical development, and prepare data package for IND filing. Lead the efforts of target validation and pre-clinical biomarker development by IHC and ISH, and make new project proposal for biologics discovery.

• Oversee the group to identify antibody leads from 3-5 projects simultaneously (naked antibody and antibody drug conjugates, both in vitro and in vivo approaches) in the area of oncology (solid tumors and hematological diseases). • Manage the group to validate targets & neoantigens identified from primary tumor samples and cancer cell lines based on in house Mass Spectrometry proteomic discovery platform. • Collaborate with academic labs for small molecule drug discovery and MOA characterization.

• Set up and manage research collaborations with universities and hospitals (US and P.R. China) to profile primary tumor samples, transgenic cancer mouse models, and cancer cell lines, establish lung cancer PDX models, resulting in over 20 peer reviewed publications. • Investigate cancer related protein post-translational modification using Mass Spectrometry (MS), identify novel activated kinases and aberrant signal transduction networks in lung, breast, colon, liver, gastric, esophagus, ovarian cancer, and leukemia/lymphoma from over 1000 primary tumors/matching normals, and over 400 cancer cell lines. • Supervise the validation of biomarkers for clinical diagnosis (mutation specific EGFR antibodies in NSCLCs), which resulted in granting Ventana Medical Systems, Inc., a worldwide non-exclusive license to the detection of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations in NSCLCs.

Explored the phosphoproteome with mass spectrometry, identifying novel activated tyrosine kinase and profiling post-translational modifications in hematologic malignancies using mass spectrometry, highlighted in the following four first author papers.

• Managed a group of 4 associates to produce a marketing strategy for a large manufacturing company in the Midwest. • Created pro forma financial projections for the company’s business plan.
