Research, analyze, and respond to legal questions from officers, management and employees; provide timely responses to requests for legal services by providing accurate legal opinions in ways that facilitate ongoing business needs while protecting the interests of the company; provide legal interpretation of legislation, statutes, and regulations and their impact on the operations of the company and its subsidiaries; prepare and review contracts and other documents; draft and negotiate healthcare provider network contracts; confer with opposing counsel regarding contracts or disputes and facilitate favorable resolution of issues; specialize in Medicare Advantage, S-CHIP, and Medicaid; participate in Government Programs Practice Group.

Participate in the general health and reimbursement practice groups; research, evaluate, and recommend dispositions on various legal matters involving general health, Medicare Advantage, federal grants, and Medicare Part A reimbursement; draft research memoranda; provide legal interpretation of legislation, statutes, and regulations and their impact on the operations of hospital clients; prepare and review contracts, including physician employment contracts, and other documents.

Participate in the commercial litigation and appellate practice groups; research, evaluate, and recommend dispositions on various legal matters; draft research memoranda, motions, briefs, and applications for leave to appeal; attend motion hearings and depositions; and contract with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan from November 2006 to December 2007 to provide legal services involving Medicare Advantage.

Research, evaluate, and recommend dispositions on applications for leave to appeal; draft memoranda, orders and judicial opinions; evaluate proposed modifications to the Michigan Court Rules and Michigan Rules of Evidence; and review administrative orders.
