Consulting through TCW Global at Shutterfly, LLC. Provided primary production support for EPM Cloud and OnPrem Hyperion Planning applications for over two and a half years. Consistently identified and provided solutions for gaps in reporting and currently available data through several changes in management and associated reporting expectations. Led effort to convert our primary onPrem finance applications from the old Oracle COA to our new SAP COA. This included updating the Account, Entity, profit center and cost center dimensions in the new applications, redesigning all forms, business rules and calc scripts. Converted all data and worked with finance team members on data tie-out and validation. Our EPM Cloud Implementation was led primarily by an external vendor; I provided much needed direction on scope, monitored progress of the build through daily check-ins and performed integrations testing, data validation, tie-out and training support. Stepped in as necessary to lead resolution on specific items to keep the project moving. An example of this includes providing much needed guidance on the proper implementation of Currency to support going from a single currency application to a multi-currency implementation. Led the implementation of new Allocation Methodologies, including preparation of unique dev/test environments to validate process flow and ensure smooth end-to-end testing and validation prior to production implementation. This included several rounds of testing to ensure SAP integrations flowed properly in the test environment prior to go-live. The original implementation was done as a point in time forward. It became necessary to apply the same methodology on historical data as it was not part of the original project. Ensured environments to support the recast of historical data were done on both OnPrem and EPM Cloud environments. This effort removed challenges related to year over year reporting with differing allocation methodologies.

Consulting services at Google, Inc. via NTT DATA Services Provide support on Hyperion Planning/Essbase finance application, including headcount, salary, capex/depreciation, revenue, cost of sales and opex. Open tickets to initiate data movements between systems, schedule forecast and annual plan calculations and archive monthly forecasts and annual plan. Troubleshoot system issues and provide assistance to Corporate Finance and other teams with data issues and validation between systems. Perform testing on system enhancements and metadata changes prior to migration to production. Support monthly processes in Anaplan application for Hardware product planning. Schedule data movements between systems and tie-out data after in and out data movements. Support users with data issues and scheduling questions. Perform system updates including adding new accounts to the system, updating dashboards, Item Lists and sub lists, modules and migrating updates from Dev to UAT and Production. Validate metadata changes, particularly with Product and Cost Center restructures.

Western Digital Corporation, November 2018 - Present (Consulting services through Siyaton Global Solutions at Western Digital Corporation) Senior Hyperion Consultant Provide support as a Business Systems Analyst to Finance team on EBPCS with Capital, Work Force Planning and Finance modules. Support month end close processes, including validating issues, providing resolution and working with IT on production issues. Track and prioritize system enhancements and production issues, working with IT teams to ensure proper resolution and implementation of same. Subject matter expert on Hyperion planning related industry best practices and provide insight on best way to implement specific enhancements.

(Consulting services through E-Team at Ascendis Pharma) Provided consulting services to select Planning tool for use at Ascendis Pharma (Adaptive Insights and Hyperion Essbase were the choices). Consulted on best practices for G/L Account and Level structures and built the G/L Account structure and Levels with multiple currencies in Adaptive Insights. Loaded Actuals and Plan data (plans come from regions in spreadsheet format). Performed reconciliation to validate data after load. Created reports for P&L and other reporting.

Implementation of three PBCS projects with implementations ranging from building Financial Reporting and SmartView reports to building Headcount and Balance Sheet models, as well as supporting applications. Implementation of Headcount and Balance Sheet models included building forms, writing calculations, updating dimensions and security and building data integrations to transfer data to primary finance plan type. Created test scripts for Headcount planning. Provided training on PBCS to offshore staff.

(Consulting services through E-Team and L&T Infotech at Marvell Semiconductor, Inc.) Consulted on the development and support of Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.4 with EPMA including the following: Updated existing 5 quarter rolling forecast to incorporate Long Range Planning (4 year plan) with minimal impact to existing processes. Rewrote IT Expense allocation calc scripts to ensure IT costs are applied appropriately. Updated primary Work Force Planning calculation to ensure salary increases are applied appropriately – regardless if they do a 5 quarter rolling forecast or the full LRP. Redesigned the CapEx module to incorporate “In Service Date” and rewrote calc scripts to ensure assets with a 3 year useful life will stop depreciating in the fourth year. Created and delivered training for SmartView for Essbase, Planning and Advanced Essbase users. Created process to migrate Forecast/Plan data from Essbase to Oracle SQL database (datamart). Created process to create/update SmartLists via EPMA using the File Generation Utility.

(Consulting services through NTTData at Medivation Inc./Pfizer) Supporting Hyperion Planning/Essbase v11.1.2.3 Planning application with three plan types (Main, Line Item Detail and Work Force Planning). The “Line Item Detail” cube was built to get a deeper understanding of Vendor and other detail versus the traditional built-in “Line Item Detail” functionality. Support Forecast, Budget and monthly close processes and maintain account, project, department and other dimension updates as necessary. Automated load of monthly actuals from Oracle ERP system into Hyperion Planning. The automated load was scheduled nightly versus manual process 3-4 times a month and saved FP&A team and support over 20 hours a month. Was a key player in building BI Finance DataMart. Primary responsibilities included integrating Hyperion budget and forecast data with transaction level actuals from Oracle ERP in Financial DataMart. I developed all the SQL to pull all dimension data from Hyperion into the DataMart and integrated Budget and Forecast data feeds from Hyperion into the DataMart. Worked with ETL Developer to identify ERP views needed to pull detailed actuals data from ERP into DataMart. This included identifying all the gaps in data between ERP data (two systems in 2016, Great Plans and Oracle ERP) and Hyperion data. Directed ETL Developer on key points to remap data from three disparate systems into a homogenous system.

Installation/Deployment of Hyperion EPM Suite v11.1.2.4 (Planning, Essbase, FDMEE, Financial Reporting, etc.), including all patches for all relevant applications. Upgraded existing applications from 11.1.2.2 to 11.1.2.4 and redesigned application to take advantage of ASO Plan type – allowing us to retire three existing ASO applications. Redesigned existing internal integrations (moving data from BSO plan types to other BSO/ASO cubes) to bring time of hourly integrations down from 20 minutes to 1-2 minutes. Administration and support of two Hyperion planning applications (v11.1.2.2 & 11.1.2.4) to support internal commitments of funding, employee planning across funds and projects and general planning to capture revenue and expense planning. Administration of three Essbase ASO reporting applications supporting above BSO/Planning applications. Administration/support included managing internal integrations using MaxL and batch scripting, writing SQL scripts to pull data from Oracle ETL data warehouse tables (heavy SQL/PLSQL). Acted in the capacity of internal consultant to gather requirements on employee planning issues, and roadblocks to wider user acceptance of the planning application. Designed, built and implemented an almost complete redesign of the Employee portion of the primary planning application. This included consulting on redesign of ETL processes in Planning ETL data warehouse. Key participant in project to implement expanded Project planning and implementation of FDM, ERPi and ODI (v11.1.2.2) including consulting on design of key integrations in FDM and ERPi (connecting to Peoplesoft), updated FDM mapping to two applications, loaded data and validated integrations, consulting on and rewriting several ODI integrations. Led performance testing and application troubleshooting efforts to make this implementation successful.

As an independent consultant, lead Hyperion Planning implementation projects, including leading design sessions, application design, development, training and consultation. I have worked on System 9 and 11 Planning implementations for the banking, semiconductor manufacturing, offshore drilling and software industries.

Completed six projects for this client. Documented existing farming application, including HAL integrations and other automated loads. Updated all calc scripts to remove hard coding and streamlined several calc scripts. Provided knowledge transfer to finance team who will be supporting the application going forward. Reviewed management reporting application, including HAL integrations to understand why the application is taking 8-10 hours to update nightly. Streamlined the HAL integrations, eliminating unneeded portions of the integration and moved some of the more time consuming ETL processes and calc scripts upstream to SQL Finance Data mart. Nightly loads now take approximately 4 ½. Migrated 3 planning applications from version 4.1 to System 9 Planning (v9.3.1). This included rebuilding all HAL integrations supporting load of metadata and data in Oracle Data Integrator (ODI). Built 15+ integrations to load metadata and data for various applications. Developed Capex Planning application to support capex and project planning needs. Completed entire build including design session, application build (built outlines, forms, calc scripts and reports), testing, training and implementation. This included building ODI integrations to support the new application and creating calc scripts to move data between applications. Migrated Management Reporting Hyperion Essbase application from v7.1.6 to System 9, including rebuilding all HAL routines/automation in Oracle Data Integrator and working with a SQL developer to rewrite SQL routines to pull the data more efficiently. Further streamlined the loading of data (as noted above was from 8-10 hours to 4 ½ hours) down to 2 ½ hours nightly. Developed Revenue forecasting capabilities to capture product level P&L data and implement three levels of reporting using different COGS requirements. Also implemented product level Excise Tax and Inventory Days (Forward and Back) calculations.
