Lead team of 24 Union firefighters / EMTs to safely respond to emergency events. Navigated work group through company restructuring efforts by balancing shifts while meeting the cost reduction targets. Joined the ES&S on-call rotation to respond to fires, HAZMAT releases, and security incidents. Worked with Labor Relations and Union Stewards to create and promote developmental opportunities for the Union employees while staying within the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Lead team of over 30+ distribution operators and technical staff members to load, offload, and transport chemicals safely. reliably, and efficiently to customers. The Land Transportation team is over 5 years OSHA incident free and the Plant A Site Logistics team is over 8 years OSHA incident free. Reestablished the incident reporting and environmental, health, and safety programs in the department. Process Safety Near Misses and Non-Injury pLIFEs increased by over 10 times, and observations per person increased. The Team was recognized by the Technology Center for improved reporting. Empowered team to take the lead on development of new training, procedures, and on-boarding of new hires in support of new operating facility.

Implemented several company process safety standards (safety system impairment, Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA), and Corrective Actions and Preventive Actions (CAPA)). Led CAPA Team, Freeze Protection Team, and Process Safety Team, facilitated Reactive Chemical and Process Hazard Analysis (RC/PHA), and drove gap closures. The majority of actions were completed within a year. Drove improvements to reduce Process Safety and Containment Events and closed gaps to establish compliance with emergency block valve, pressure relief device, and LOPA requirements. Immediate actions were implemented while long term actions were scoped for Turnarounds and added to a Compliance Plan. Participated in Site Emergency Services and Security response drills, serving as a member of the Site Fire Brigade. Supervised plant co-ops/interns by developing a project list, conducting routine meetings to discuss progress, and providing ongoing feedback throughout the term.

Managed both the Improvement and Production roles during personnel transition. Served as Project Manager and Manufacturing Representative for projects pertaining to environmental compliance, company compliance, and plant reliability to extend the life of the plant. Mentored new Production Engineers and supervised plant co-ops/interns. Collaborated with the Operations and Maintenance Teams to improve reliability on top opportunity equipment through global project methodology. Certified Six Sigma Green Belt Project Leader and used the Six Sigma methodologies to improve plant performance. Responsible for plant process safety performance as Process Safety Focal Point. Participated on site and global business teams. Led Root Cause Investigations for site incidents as an independent facilitator. Led plant through successful audits for the EPA and internal Technology Center which required subsequent gap closure activities as well as LOPA Revalidations.

Worked with a diverse team to prioritize and deliver production goals and safety goals for the Oxide Derivatives Plant. Maintained zero safety incidents and set monthly and annual production records in a 60-year-old plant. Accountable for safely managing change by participating in hazard assessments, conducting observations and assessments, and leading/participating in project reviews. Team leader for and participant in various empowered teams and Six Sigma teams. Led Root Cause Investigations around lost production, off-spec production, EH&S issues, and process safety near misses. Supported all Oxide Derivative plants to maintain production while unforeseen staff reductions/turnovers occurred. Supervised a summer intern that successfully completed projects on time.

Researched and analyzed different oil and gas fields around Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico for potential operations/production. Created wellbore diagrams and well histories.

Became proficient in public databases, such as DrillingInfo, IHS, and state websites to investigate and evaluate oil and gas well production and performance and drilling/completion history. Created gathering system models for a natural gas field and worked on a team to identify ways to optimize pipeline and compressor configurations. Worked with a team to increase oil production by increasing total fluid production and injection capacity in a waterflood field. This was accomplished by infield drilling, increasing ESP/artificial lift capacity, and increasing water injection and handling capacity. Created geotechnical wellbore diagrams for field wells so each could be used to evaluate production efficiency and strategy. Collaborated with field personnel to support operations as well as help identify and pursue optimization opportunities.
