Timothy Tau Hsieh (謝韜 or Hsieh Tau, Hsieh is pronounced "Shay") is a S-Ranked Registered Patent Attorney and Associate Law Professor with 20+ years of experience specializing in AI, IP, Antitrust & Competition, Administrative, Sports & Entertainment Law, Legislation & Regulation, plus the Law of Blockchain, NFTs, Crypto & Web 3.0. Moreover, Prof. Hsieh was a Patent Examiner for close to 5.5 years, where he examined inventions in AI/ML, business methods, finance, banking, insurance, FinTech, blockchain, NFTs & crypto. He also worked on many PTAB IPRs as a judicial law clerk detailee to the Hon. Jameson Lee, the most senior APJ. Before the USPTO, he was an IP, tech, antitrust & entertainment litigator and patent & TM prosecutor at top AmLaw 100 law firms, representing clients in complex disputes & transactions. His mission is to advance the knowledge and practice of law & technology, and to contribute to the innovation and development of new fields and industries. He is passionate about teaching and mentoring the next generation of lawyers & leaders, and is always eager to learn from and collaborate with his peers & colleagues. Prof. Hsieh holds a JD from UC Law SF, an LLB from the University of London, an LLM from Berkeley Law (Law & Technology Certificate), an MS in Electrical Engineering from UCLA, and a BS in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science from UC Berkeley.
