Conducted routine technical procedures according to departmental standard operating procedures. Prepared and stained specimens for microscopic examination and performed blood, urine and faecal culture. Conducted faecal occult blood test, Streptococcus pneumonia antigen test and MRSA and CRE PCR screening. Verified and dispatched reported results in an accurate and timely manner.

In my final year as a Biomedical Science student at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, I was given the opportunity to take up an internship at Prof. Ng Huck Hui's Laboratory of Precision Disease Therapeutics, EMULSION, at the Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS), A*STAR. Our laboratory has previously developed a method to isolate adult liver stem cells (LSC) from donor tissues. Facilitated the differentiation of LSC into hepatocyte-like cells (HLC). Validated the differentiation efficiency of LSC to HLC and demonstrated its hepatocyte-like functions. Supported the development of an in vitro NAFLD model with HLC derived from LSC. Performed shRNA-mediated knockdown of candidate therapeutic gene targets in our hepatocyte models and validated the knockdown efficiency.

26 August to 15 September 2019 During my three weeks of attachment in a medical ward as a student nurse, I gained a deeper understanding of the profession and the healthcare industry. I worked alongside nurses to perform various nursing procedures on patients such as providing intravenous therapy, wound care and specimen collection. I observed a few invasive medical procedures and was given the opportunity to assist in a lumbar puncture procedure. These three weeks had been a fulfilling and irreplaceable experience. It also greatly emphasised the importance of demonstrating effective communication in the workplace and being a dependable individual.

1 July to 7 July 2019 My one-week attachment in Yishun Community Hospital as a student nurse has provided me with first-hand experience on the amount of effort and dedication needed to be in this profession. I applied the skills and knowledge learnt in school such as vital signs monitoring and assisted nurses to provide care and rehabilitation to patients. This one week had been an eye-opening experience for me as someone who had never worked in the healthcare industry before to view things from a different perspective.

Night Safari, Park Operations Job Scope: Assist in the day-to-day operation of the park, provide administrative support to the department and manage guest interactions. The eight months spent working in Night Safari had given me many great opportunities to sharpen my interpersonal skills. Through the process of serving guests to ensuring the park operates smoothly together with my colleagues, I was able to hone my effective communication and leadership skills. Working in a fast-paced environment has also increased my capability to work under pressure and to demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility in the tasks I do. As we strive to provide the best experience for our guests, we are constantly improving ourselves as well. Working in Night Safari has not only provided me with valuable experiences but also made me an overall better person in terms of being more patient and compassionate towards the people around me, and also to become a dependable individual.

Activities and Societies: Leo Club [2020-2022] • Volunteering in community service events serving different beneficiaries ranging from elderly to special needs, children and the underprivileged
