My main role as reef ecologist was to train weekly volunteers to a high standard in; coral reef ecology, underwater identification of Caribbean reef fishes, invertebrates and algae, underwater survey techniques and marine management and conservation. I worked closely with the Head of Marine Science to assist in the planning of the summers survey program.

* My key roles were to; * liaise with project stakeholders in the private and public sector. * produce reports from completed survey programs. * deliver presentations to stakeholders covering project work, findings and recommendations. * actively take part in local Coastal Resource Management plans * manage a small science team and oversee all surveying. * manage the programs training schedule for new volunteers. * manage Coral Cays educational program.

* Role included: * Leading a growing research NGOs’ busiest project site, co-ordinating workforce manpower to fit the ongoing project aims as well as establishing new project aims. * Meeting and developing relationships with other international and local NGOs * Training new individuals to the project and assessing their ongoing performance. * Contributing to ongoing reports and publications including the 3-year report to regional government for a MoA renewal. * Conducting and overseeing multiple concurrent research outputs including; ongoing capture-mark-recapture studies, area usage statistics, customer satisfaction surveys and novel tagging study methodologies. * Regularly reporting and reassessing project aims and finances with the NGO Director. * Organise day-to-day operation of the site and planning weekly and monthly goals. * Co-ordinating personnel movement with other projects in the Philippines. * Delegating of data analysis in line with the needs of the project.
