The Connecticut Opioid Response Initiative (CORE) grant aims to implement evidence-based practices and strategies to help prevent prescription drug and opioid overdose morbidity and morality in Connecticut, increase awareness of this public health epidemic, and help to reduce stigma associated with substance use disorder. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Communicating with local police departments, town officials, and first responders to collect relevant demographics, developing community narcan trainings in the 4 district towns, and assisting the distribution and education of drug deactivation pouches for safe disposal. Healthy Walk N' Talk brings community members of all ages and fitness levels to participate in 1 hour of walking with local health care professionals. Encouraged, promoted, and prepared New Haven Public School rising 10th grade students to be successful in continuing education. Supported the cultural arts, athletic, social, and interpersonal activities of the program under academic instruction through a weekly basis.
