The Total Energy Summer School (TESS) brings together 80 students from around the world, selected from over 6700 applicants with leading academics from Total’s Professorial and Research Chairs programme and Senior Total representatives from across the business for 4 days of interactive learning and discussion.Through a stimulating mix of lectures and group activities,students work alongside academic and industry thought leaders to explore the energy of the future. The programme was a great learning experience for me and some highlights include the sustainable energy brainstorm conducted by CNBC, plenary sessions featuring guest chairs and speakers from leading institutions including UNESCO, MIT, IEA, Dauphine, IFP and INSEAD, ‘Total Ed’ Talks, inspired by TED conferences, as well as working together in a student team challenge to discuss innovative ideas on harnessing the power of diversity.

- Compare Rendall Process Technology and evaluate its performance against different kerogen processing technologies using spreadsheet based models and present written report - Collaborated with various stakeholders to set up a new oil shale company - Successfully retrieved, digitized and organized 100 GB of data collected from Albuquerque storage - Learning journey: visit to Rifle (including Paraho II pilot plant), Colorado and Utah (including Enefit’s box cut) and met up with many industry experts who shared not only their knowledge about the industry and also firsthand information about their technology. These experts include Mr. Justin A. Bilyeu, Engineering Manager of Shale Tech International and Mr. Kevin Biehle, Ex-Chief Operating Officer of Shale Tech International and Mr. Jeffrey Hartley, Vice President Government Relations & Communications from Red Leaf Resources, Professor Jennifer Spinti from University of Utah and team and Dr. Jeremy Boak, Director of Centre for Oil Shale Technology and Research at the Colorado School of Mines, and Chair and Co-chair of the annual Oil Shale Symposium for many years.

Worked together with a PhD student on a research project as part of the URECA programme (Undergraduate Research Experience on CAmpus) investigating muscle contraction; specifically the phosphorylation of Regulatory Light Chain by producing the protein

Pathlight School is an autism school offering a blend of Singapore’s mainstream academic and life skills training - Built good rapport with students and effectively implemented autism-friendly support strategies learnt from training during lessons - Engaged in team projects relating to teaching and learning of students with special needs such as generating learning resources - Filmed, edited and published videos to track students’ progress of both educational and behavioral goals - Provided administrative support for teachers
