About

Trained in a multi-disciplinary bio-inorganic/ bio-organic laboratory; Solid skills in organic chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology and microbiology; Designed and completed the syntheses of a series of complex natural-product derivatives; Established multiple biological assays (in vitro and in vivo) to evaluate the properties of these molecules, including fluorescent titrations, MIC determinations against a wide range of bacterial strains, killing kinetic studies and etc. Actively involved in multiple student organizations for leadership development, including Graduate Women at MIT, MIT-China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum, MIT Chinese Students and Scholars Association and more. Accumulated rich experience in organizing events, networking with people from different fields and work around different opinions.

A new strategy for compound delivery into bacteria cytosol was developed. Applying a small molecule enterobactin which is biosynthesized by bacteria, this strategy aims to hijack the endogenous enterobactin uptake machinery to actively deliver cargos into bacteria. Through organic syntheses, microbiological assays and several other approaches, we have demonstrated successful delivery of many cargos including antibiotics and fluorophores, and greatly increased the activity of several known antibiotics against target bacteria without affecting other bacteria strains.
