Teheli Mpho Morabe

After completing my studies and qualifying as a Chemical Engineer from The Cape Peninsula University of Technology, I spent the following years working my way up in the mining Industry from a Graduate Metallurgist to a Plant Manager and now my current role of COO. I have spent over 16 years in the industry, sharpening my skills and building the confidence to lead teams through extremely precise processes! I have experience with Diamond Mines, Chrome Mines, Platinum plants, Andalusite Plants, and Iron ore plants and now I have had the opportunity to work at a Manganese Plant. My role at Manganese Metal Company saw me packing up my family and moving them to the beautiful town of Mbombela. It might have been a change, but it has certainly been one of my greatest and most fulfilling learning experiences, so far. Learning how to connect with the local community and function in an environmental space that can be shared and benefit everyone, has been a major part of my life. I am also an HSE Committee member of the International Manganese Institute (IMnI) which allows me to stay as informed as I can about the safety, social, economic, and environmental responsibility of the industry. On a personal note, I enjoy being outdoors and staying active. I participate in road races and part of the swimming structures to spend time with my son who loves the water. I am also the vice chair of the Penryn Parents Association where my two boys are currently scholars. I truly do believe that I am where I am today because I was given a chance, someone believed in me. This is why I need to give back and mentor my peers, new employees, and graduates. It gives me great satisfaction to see people grow, and I am always happy to be a part of that in some way!
