Rooms Operations Manager, The Philadelphia Downtown Marriott
Philadelphia, PA
Operations Manager in charge of the daily operations of the Housekeeping department of the Philadelphia Downtown Marriott. A convention property with 1,408 rooms in two buildings and a staff of over nearly 200 associates in the department. My responsibilities included everyday duties such as paying bills, monitoring the budget, and inspecting our rooms, to researching, developing, and implementing new processes to make the department and hotel run more efficiently.

Operations Manager, Courtyard by Marriott Philadelphia Valley Forge
I oversaw the daily operations of the entire hotel, with a focus in the housekeeping department. Shortly after starting here in October 2011, our Assistant General Manager left, leaving only my General Manager and myself. Being a new manager, I was was exposed to many different tasks in running a hotel and adapted quickly and efficiently. In March 2012, we hired a second Operations Manager to oversee our Front Desk and Bistro operations. I was then able to truly focus on the housekeeping department. In my time here, our Guest Satisfaction Scores in Room Cleanliness continued to grow and I narrowly missed my 2012 Room Cleanliness Goal by 0.2%. All of this was accomplished when selling rooms that had not been renovated in over six years. In December 2012, we began a total rooms renovation. The process took two months and allowed me the opportunity to experience such an ordeal. I worked very closely with the renovation team to ensure that our associates and guests were well informed throughout the construction, and participated in the first inspection and final inspections of the newly renovated rooms. My hard work and dedication to the property was second to none. I was (and still am) always eager to learn new things, I find great reward in exceeding my guests’ expectations, and strive to make coming to work a true pleasure for our associates.

Certified Running Coach - Road Runners Club of America

I am a certified Level 1 Running Coach through Road Runners Club of America (RRCA). I volunteer my services to anyone interested in running. I like to partner with individuals who are just starting to run/walk to improve their health/well-being, as that is why I started running years ago (and to keep up with my now wife who had just completed a half Iron Man!). However, whether you've never run/walked a 5k or you want to run your 4th marathon at a faster pace - I am here to help!

Restaurant Manager
Courtyard Marriott at the University of Delaware
After working for four months as a front desk associate at this property, I was promoted to Restaurant Manager. The restaurant could seat just under fifty people and served breakfast and dinner. I was in charge of scheduling, training, marketing, and leading the restaurant team all while attending the University of Delaware as a full-time college student in my senior year. As graduation approached and many of my peers sought to leave the area, I decided that it was time to move on as well. I notified my Director of Operations of my intention to leave around late-March or early-April, and retained that position until just-prior to graduation in May 2011.

Front Desk Agent
Courtyard Marriott at the University of Delaware
As a front desk associate, I was in charge of many different task related to the front desk, including: checking our guests in/out of the hotel, assuring proper billing, handling guest issues/complaints/inquiries, and doing my best to go above and beyond our guests' expectations to ensure that they return to our property in the future.

Winter Intern, Courtyard Marriott Downtown Philadelphia
Courtyard Philadelphia Downtown
Taking advantage of the University of Delaware's 7-week winter break, I worked at the Courtyard Philadelphia Downtown as an intern. I worked in many different departments, including Accounting and Front Office, but primarily focused my attention in the Engineering Department. My role was to inspect every room in the hotel (497) and ensure all fixtures, paintings, and decorations were in the room, as the hotel had just completed a total guest room renovation. I was taught how to properly hang and mount paintings, mirrors, shelves, and much more. I was invited back for Summer 2008, but offer was later rescinded due to the economic recession.
