Category IV (Care Provider) may provide direct care for, and may come into contact with, wildlife at the facility of a Category I, II, or III permittee, when direct supervision is not available at that facility. (Example: A Category II goes on vacation and needs someone to provide care to the animals at their facility. The Category IV would be qualified to render this assistance.)

* Feed and groom the critters * Clean their sleeping shelter * Collect waste to be used as fertilizer * Provide interaction

* Promote and educate about recycling and green initiatives around the University * Help in programs and events targeting the student body to reduce food waste, energy, and trash * Promote awareness and participation in sustainability * Volunteer for events such as Earth Week, World Water Day, and America Recycles Day * Increase interacts between the student body and program * Collect concerns and questions regarding sustainability issues from the community

* Provide information about wildlife and wildlife-health issues to the public * Serve as the Center’s telephone operator, screening and transferring incoming calls to appropriate staff members * Help individuals assess the appropriate course of action/treatment for an animal with a medical emergency * Admit wildlife patients brought to the Center as patients * Enter intake information into the Center’s patient database

* I will be completing two training programs over the next three * months in order to understand the health and safety requirements and technical * aspects of these project areas: * 1) completion of 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER health and safety training and assistance in the * development of a training manual, and * 2) principles and field methods in environmental hydrogeology.

First preference given to students pursuing the study of geosciences.
