Hi there, I’m Qi Xuan, a Mechanical Design Engineer with over 3 years of experience in automated material handling (AMHS) and automated storage and retrieval (ASRS) system design for the semiconductor industry. At Stratus Automation, I focus on developing and retrofitting seamless, fully or semi-automated handling solutions into existing fab lines. My work involves designing systems that interface with various wafer carriers, including SMIF Pods and HA200 for 200mm wafers, FOUPs for 300mm wafers, and Reticle Pods used in photolithography processes. Beyond front-end wafer handling, I’ve also been involved in back-end material handling systems such as slot magazines and tray-based modules. This cross-functional exposure has deepened my understanding of how front-end and back-end automation must integrate seamlessly to support high-volume semiconductor manufacturing. Beyond design work, I’m also involved in cleanroom fab inspections, where I assess layouts and propose customized AMHS integrations that align with each customer’s operational requirements. My role also extends to prototype validation, continuous improvement initiatives, and on-site installation coordination to ensure systems are implemented efficiently and reliably.
