There is a gap in Canada's end-of-life care system. When someone is approved for Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD), the clinical pathway ends. The emotional preparation, coordination, education, and grief support — for the person and everyone walking alongside them — largely does not. MAiDHouse was built to fill that gap. As Executive Director, I lead an organization that provides guidance, education, and support to eligible individuals and their support networks, at no cost, across two cities and growing. Before this role, I served as the inaugural Program Director of MAiDHouse Victoria — launching our first site expansion, building strategic partnerships with Island Health, and helping establish the community infrastructure that makes dignified dying possible outside of clinical settings. My background spans over 20 years in healthcare leadership. I served as Dean of Clinical Education at a chiropractic college in California, overseeing clinical education for more than 3,000 graduates. I hold advanced degrees in neuroscience, chiropractic, and natural medicine, and I am a certified end-of-life doula, death educator, and sustainable coffin maker. As co-founder of The Prana Foundation, I have long championed holistic, person-centered approaches to care. This work is grounded in a simple belief: dignity in dying must be accessible to everyone. Not just those with resources, or family nearby, or the right circumstances. Everyone. I think about death literacy, system gaps, and the human experience of dying.
