Talya Bloom, R.N., has been Executive Director of Weinstein Hospice since 2002. Her post graduate training includes certification as a gerontological nurse, as well as qualifying as a nurse midwife in South Africa. Bloom’s 38 years of nursing experience include serving as an oncology nurse at Northside Hospital (1990-1992), directing the Alzheimer’s Care Program and the Palliative Care Program for Visiting Nurse Health System (1992-2002), and working at Weinstein Adult Day Care Center (1987-1989). Her work in her native South Africa includes two years of experience as a clinical nurse for a large corporation and eight years of experience as a community nurse. Bloom was named Clinical Manager of the Year by Visiting Nurse Association of America in 2002. Her community involvement has included chairing the Ethics Committee of Visiting Nurse Health System and serving on the Weinstein Adult Care Planning Committee as well as the Georgia Coalition on Aging.
