I worked in the Public Affairs Section of the jointly run UN / Royal Cambodian Government Khmer Rouge Tribunal for genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes during Case 002,that involved a complex examination of the leadership of the Communist Party of Kampuchea. Duties: Tribunal monitoring, public interfacing through outreach trips to local schools and universities , content production for website, media liaison, production of public education/information material – requiring me to condensing legal arguments and documents for wide audience consumption.

I worked in the Current Affairs Department at Bush House. I researched and condensed background information for the daily "World Have Your Say" program. I participated in editorial meetings, chased up expert guests, and screened callers during the live broadcast.

* Lecturer at the Law School for undergraduate courses * Having gathered 70 interviews during field research with human rights abuse perpetrators and survivors for my doctorate I carried out further field work in Cambodia, and gathered 30 additional interviews on public perceptions of post atrocity justice and the work of the ECCC. * I have continued as a fellow to develop my research by building on and adding to my publications, providing public lectures and seminars * Further field work in Cambodia in Spring/Summer 2015 gathering an additional 20 interviews

The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is the regional development arm of the United Nations for the Asia-Pacific region. I worked in the Environment and Development Department(EDD) working to promote regional co-operation and to strengthen regional capacity towards inclusive sustainable socio-economic development for all in Asia and the Pacific. My time here was specifically focused on researching and publicising the quinquennial State of the Enviornment Report.

Abridged PhD thesis abstract: The Cambodian genocide and its aftermath are unique in that key leaders are on trial thirty years after their regime fell. This creates particular problems : the UN backed trials (ECCC) assume the normative aims of the transitional justice paradigm, but exist in context of multiple ‘transitions’ preceding or running concurrent to them, creating complex competing and complementary ideas about what constitutes ‘justice.’ Over the previous thirty years transition and justice were social process; alongside legalistic input it included (and still includes) religious discourse, ceremony, ritual and modes of expression not employed or recognised in courts. This thesis concerns the many and dynamic ways in which the concept of justice is discussed, narrated and manifested both inside and outside formal mechanisms. It draws from 59 ethnographic interviews with monks, former KR cadres, witnesses, jurists, historical and cultural figures from 10 provinces.
