Worked as a camp art and music teacher for children in the preschool and in 1st-2nd grade.

* Aided the teachers at educating, crafting, and watching over children from ages 5-15. I attended to special needs children who needed individual attention. * Cleaned and disinfected areas such as the tables, walls, floors and bathrooms. I also took out the trash and recycling. * Performed other duties such as taking phone calls and talking with parents utilizing communication skills.

Collaborated with 2 team members on the Argentina Oceans project with NASA DEVELOP to correlate whale calf deaths off the coast of Argentina at the Peninsula Valdes with environmental variables and Harmful Algae Bloom events on a decadal time scale. Actively participated in weekly conference calls with project partners from the University of Utah, NOAA, and the University of California. Drafted and edited project deliverables, such as the project's power point presentation, project summery, project video, and tech paper, almost every week. * Assists teachers with instructing lab courses for Hydrology, Geographic Information Systems, and Remote Sensing with 25 students in each class. Instructor duties include preparing and grading lab exercises, setting up and taking down lab equipment, and turning in final grades for the courses. * Prepares and sets up for labs that involve different tasks, such as computer software checks and chemistry lab prep as well as driving the van for field trips. * Proctors exams and oversees labs when professors are unavailable.

Thesis abstract: Pseudo-nitzschia is a common diatom genus that causes large neurotoxin events in marine waters. A HAB forecasting model (from the University of California in Santa Cruz) will be tested and re-parametrized for two sites in the Gulf of Mexico and on the southern coast of Argentina. Inputs into the model are only remotely sensed data from NASA’s Aqua MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer). Forecast bloom maps on a probability scale will use rasters of sea-surface temperature, chlorophyll a concentrations, and remote sensing reflectances. Background in-situ data on water quality and cell abundances will be used to validate the model’s effectiveness.
