ProfPS provides expertise in medical device testing, from design concept, execution and validation for safety and efficacy studies prior to regulatory submission. Training in high-fidelity models for surgical procedures, techniques and instruments form part of an extensive research and development portfolio of skills and expertise.

As the R&D lead for all tissue engineering and regenerative medicine projects, responsible for developing and implementing the strategic pathway towards the commercialisation of different clinical products. Engagement with different funding sectors (commercial, government and charity), clinical partners, manufacturing and regulatory process to enable potential commercialisation and clinical adaption. Resulted in over 60 peer-reviewed papers, book chapters and 6 filed patents (2 as solo inventor) http://www.npimr.org/

Tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Development of numerous organ scaffolds, processes and technology for integrating stem cells and scaffolds. Set up different processes (e.g., cell culture, microbiology, and mechanical testing of various biological and hybrid materials). Supervise MD and PhD students.

Set up and execution of projects relating to maternal foetal health, with a specific focus on placental development in early and late onset pre-eclampsia, intra-uterine growth restriction and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Supervise undergraduate students during their placement year and help them learn the fundamentals of research, promoting medical research as a career pathway.

Thesis title: Stereological Analysis of SIDS-linked micro-anatomical anomalies in specific regions of the brain, phrenic nerve and diaphragm
