Tae Hoon Kang
Senior Systems Design Engineer @ KLA
About
Systems Design Architect with 10+ year experience in semiconductor photolithography with focus on Extreme UltraViolet (EUV) technology. An eager and lifelong learner of science and engineering. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, martial art, urban climbing, parkour and freerunning, weightlifting, cooking, and video games. I also enjoy studying history, economics, and social sciences outside of my regular focus in engineering and physics. Career Summary: I started my career at Cymer as Field Service Engineer and was required to fly to multiple customer sites to service EUV Light Source. As an Integration Engineer I gained much hands-on experience and in-depth technical knowledge in everything involving Cymer's technology. In 2014, I accepted 1 year expatriate assignment to South Korea to support directly at customer sites. During this time I gained much more understanding of vendor customer relationship. After returning to United States, I started my work as System Engineer - Product Industrialization with focus on Setup and Recovery. This was my first role that required both soft and hard skills. While working full-time at ASML I started Master program at UCSD Nanoengineering department. As part of graduate school, I complimented my in-person experience with scholastic understandings. In addition to working full-time and taking courses, I also joined a university research lab and applied lot of the theoretical learnings to design experiments. In order to manage, schoolwork, research work and my career, I opted to work night shift as system test engineer while attending school and doing research during day-time and on the weekend. I did this for approximately 3 years. In 2019, there was an opportunity to join Industrialization group in ASML as a sequence integrator. During this time I produced over 30 service sequences that are used at customer sites. After 1 year of working as Sequence Integrator, another opportunity came to work as Availability Architect within the same group. In this role, I work with system engineering, customer service and other sectors to predict, assess and improve industrialization specifications such as availability, Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), Mean Time to Recovery (MTTR), Extreme Long Down (XLD) events, Labor Hour, Part Usage Cost, and cost of service. I am motivated to self-improve in all aspect of my life. I am always striving to gain more technical knowledge, improve soft skills and grow my career. I've had setbacks in both personal life and in my careers, but I've never stopped trying in either.
