I was part of a 25 member committe, consisting of experienced tax professionals, primarily responsible for providing tax proposals to the Federal Government of Pakistan on behalf of ICAP.

Reporting directly to the Engagement Partner. Supervising various stages of assurance engagements including planning, execution, review, reporting and conclusion. Maintaining coordination between the assurance client and the Engagement Partner. While working as Audit Supervisor at Grant Thornton Pakistan, my key responsibilities included: - Engagement planning based on the understanding of the client’s business processes and assessment of business and audit risks, supervision of the engagement, review and finalization, including close liaison with client's management; - Coordinating with various professionals such as lawyers, tax consultants, actuaries, independent valuators and information technology experts and decision-making in respect of critical reportable matters; - Assisting clients in preparation of financial statements in accordance with the applicable financial reporting framework including compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), local corporate laws and directives of regulatory authorities; - Assisting clients in preparation of income tax returns and preparation of the relevant tax workings including compliance with the Income Tax Ordinance and related rules; - Providing ongoing assurance and advisory services to clients regarding compliance with corporate governance laws and regulatory requirements of Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan and State Bank of Pakistan; - Evaluating internal control systems and risk management procedures, identifying weaknesses therein and making recommendations to management; and - On-the-job training and professional development of staff.
