During my time as a HYPE employee, I helped to facilitate two separate virtual coding camps for middle school and high school students. The HYPE @ Home program introduced students to the basics of web development by teaching students to create websites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Bootstrap. Students were exposed to the introductory principles of computer science, including algorithms, loops, binary code, and design thinking. The HYPE scholars also were also able to hear presentations by tech professionals and create their own "passion projects," which were websites about a particular societal issue. My responsibilities as a virtual coding camp teaching assistant included the following: • Assisting the instructor with lesson preparation • Tracking attendance and documenting student progress • Supporting students with completion of final projects and presentations • Supporting in the development of public speaking, leadership, problem solving, and teamwork skills
