As part of the Gerdau Global SAP Implementation team, we were responsible for streamlining and integrating the end-to-end procurement process for the SAP rollout across Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Argentina and Uruguay. This was a major change management project with SAP replacing manual processes. Working with country representatives to analyse current processes and identify unified best practice; to develop a new Global Template focused on optimising productivity and simplifying processes and Systems. Working with SAP and Accenture implementation consultants to further develop the SAP solution to meet the Global Template. Identifying and assessing systems risks through the development and implementation phase.

Responsible for the operational leadership of a team of ten based in Peru to procure $50m (23,000 items) p.a. Additionally, responsible for analysing the procurement function to implement process improvements. Engaging with key business stakeholders to understand their operational goals and issues to implement aligned procurement strategies that improve business performance. Supplier sourcing and development, leading commercial negotiations to secure preferential prices, contractual terms and Service Level Agreements. Post contract negotiation of variations to achieve win/win outcomes. Identifying and researching alternative materials worldwide (Asia and Europe) to reduce costs whilst maintaining and improving quality. Demonstrating benefits of new materials nor new suppliers to business stakeholders to influence change. Leading, coaching and mentoring team members in best practice procurement processes to build a highly motivated, efficient and engaged team.

I was responsible for supporting the Procurement ICT Systems (CAPEX, Indirects, Raw Materials and warehouse) to implement best practise procurement processes and strategies in Peru. These were developed following company acquisition (Siderperu was bought by Gerdau). I conducted a GAP analysis, developed strategies and executed continuous improvement projects that were effectively implemented on the ICT systems.

Responsibilities: I was promoted to a role covering South America (Peru, Chile, Argentina & Uruguay) following operational restructure to a regional cross-functional model. I was responsible for leading the development and implementation of improved strategies and building a high performing team to procure USD $45m (52,000 items) p.a. Duties included: Developing procurement models and strategies to increase productivity and reduce cost. Developing and implementing procurement processes to replicate best practise. Building and leading a diverse multi-cultural team. Analysing, assessing and developing suppliers, negotiating contracts. Example Achievements: Achieved USD $1.2m in savings through the implementation of effective procurement models. Saved USD $2m by increased purchases under contract.
