My postdoctoral work at the SCC involved synthesis of probe molecules against targets such as the two-pore potassium channel (KCNK9), Venezuelan Equine Encephalitis viruses (VEEV) and Nuclear factor (erythroid-derived 2)-like 2 (Nrf2). The synthesis of small heterocyclic molecules for these projects involved enantioselective synthesis, chiral HPLC resolution of diastereomers, click chemistry and other contemporary organic chemistry techniques. Additionally, I have working knowledge of parallel synthesis using miniblocks and flow chemistry using Vapourtec.

Synthesis of heterocyclic molecules and computational methods in the design and optimization of small molecules interacting at several biological targets. I am a self-taught user of in silico drug design techniques and have routinely used Sybyl, Gold, Flexx (LeadIT) and MOE in my doctoral research. My research involved development and validation of homology models, docking studies to interpret observed SAR and development of 3D-QSAR models including COMFA and topomer COMFA models. Drug targets include receptor tyrosine kinases, dihydrofolate reductase, thymidylate synthase, tubulin, GAR FTase and AICAR FTase.
