I worked on a team consisting of a Senior Engineer and Engineering Manager. This team was tasked with finding reasons why an outsourced contract project for an automated assembly machine was 1 year behind schedule and $1,000,000 over budget. I performed quality assurance studies on the current manual process of assembling parts. Through this study, I found that 30% of all parts manually assembled did not match the tolerances in the company's engineering drawings. This resulted in the robotic assembly machine malfunctioning due to the lack of precision. I assisted in implementing a new operating procedure to ensure the manually assembled parts were within tolerance and uniform. I worked with operators to fulfill and ship short notice work orders for prototype parts. At the conclusion of my internship, I presented the team findings of issues and observations of the robotic assembly machine to Upper Management.
