My engineering role entailed responsibilities from start to finish of infrared system projects from design, procurement and initial technical support, liaising with customers to assembling, testing, shipping and onsite installation/commissioning of completed infrared systems as well as fault-finding and system modifications (electrical and/or mechanical). This role also includes demonstrating to customers and operators how the system works and understanding the customers’ needs if modifications are required. Electrical - Working with voltages up to 415 Volts, single and 3 phase systems and components daily. Assembling and wiring of terminal boxes, multicore/single core cabling and supply distribution. Resistance and continuity testing of electrical modules and control panels. In house and onsite electrical installation, system testing and commissioning as well as fault finding and onsite modifications. System & Control - Knowledge of control panel wiring, electrical drawings and component layout. Working with Siemens S7 PLCs from HMI screen development and system design to fault finding and onsite system modifications/ basic programming. Experience of system control instrumentation and safety components/switches. Testing and commissioning of control panels onsite. Technical & Sales Support – Liaising with clients for system installations, onsite commissioning, which requires some overseas and out of hours, and providing any supporting documentation and technical information. Assist with customer enquiries into existing or potential future system orders. Design – Review of sales design forms to establish what the customers’ requirements are. Design aspects include that off electrical, system design, safety aspects of functional systems and mechanical using AutoCAD Inventor 2D & 3D). We design heating bespoke emitter modules in the form a sheet metal assembly as well as sub assembles such as fan, terminal box and harting plug mounting assemblies.

Responsibilities: • Producing specification documents/drawings for new and existing parts. • Comparing engineered parts to customer drawing, spec and relevant company procedures/processes to ensure products are manufactured correctly and on time. • Carrying out Engineering Change Notes on existing parts. • Communicating with customers to carry out changes to meet their requirements. • Involvement with quoting/sales stage to ensure efficient and correct pricing and time scheduling is achieved. • Assisting Production, Technical and Quality departments to resolve existing problems and to prevent future issues. • Creating and outputting Drill, Rout and Electrical Test (ATE) programs. • Updating detailed and dimensioned drawings and images to aid manufacturing. • Manipulate, change or add features and/or programs to live manufacturing data to improve efficiency of manufacturing and quality of the final product.
