Steven B. Rissman

Steven B. Rissman, Vice President & Associate General Counsel for Philip Morris International (PMI), heads up PMI’s Litigation & Investigations practice group. He has global responsibility for PMI’s significant litigation matters, including PMI’s product liability litigation and claims involving PMI’s Reduced Risk Products; commercial lawsuits, patent litigation and criminal matters of company-wide significance; and major governmental and internal investigations. Mr. Rissman also leads PMI’s Illicit Trade Prevention group. He reports to PMI’s Chief Legal Officer. Mr. Rissman associated with PMI following its 2008 spin-off from Altria Group, Inc. He began working for Altria in 1997 and held positions of increasing responsibility in Altria’s litigation group. Prior to Altria, Mr. Rissman was a litigation partner at Winston & Strawn LLP (NY), where he focused on commercial litigation, appellate work and product liability law. Mr. Rissman attended the University of Illinois College of Law, where he served as an editor of the University of Illinois Law Review. He was admitted to the bars of Illinois in 1989 and New York in 1994, and is a member of the bars of the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Second and Seventh Circuits, U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Active in philanthropy and the arts, Mr. Rissman is President of the Board of Directors of Covenant Ballet Theatre of Brooklyn.
