Motobyo is an automotive marketplace connecting everyday consumers interested in selling or buying their used cars. • Architected and managed the development of initial and subsequent releases of the Motobyo software platform including the auction application and marketing site. • Built a team of twenty-five resources that included full-time employees and contractors (both onshore and offshore) to fill all the roles on the development team. • Designed the scaling, flexible architecture for the system that evolved from a Philadelphia-first market to a nationwide one. The updated system included a CDN for our UI and a multi-region, microservices architecture on the API/services side. • Mentored direct reports on process improvements and development best practices. • Led the strategic planning process for the company. • Utilized low-code and AI code generation tools like Retool and Tabnine to increase team efficiency and simplify code complexity. Decreased our codebase by approximately 18% by using Retool alone. • Initiated user experience testing utilizing FigPii and UsabilityHub on our marketing pages and our application UI. This led to an increase of leads by 225% and signups by 350% in the first quarter of this year. • Implemented AI tools including ChatGPT and Dall-E for our marketing department, saving the organization approximately $11K monthly in copywriter and stock image costs. • Successfully managed the budget for the engineering organization including monthly assessments against estimates and future planning. At our peak, our budgets topped out at approximately $200k a month.

Adattivo is a custom mobile and web application development firm that uses the latest development tools and Agile and Scrum processes to build high-quality software. * Founded software development company to help many startups or smaller companies build their web and mobile applications. * Served as fractional CTO to small clients who needed help starting their web and mobile platforms. * Hands-on Javascript, Node.js, React.js, Vue.js, Golang, Python, AWS, and Ruby coding for clients and mentoring of the team. This included web and mobile applications as well as web services. * Mentored new engineers from local code schools to help clients build their applications.

CUE is a one-stop-shop to discover, purchase and manage the best software and services for small businesses. * Built the product development team through a combination of onshore and in-house development resources. * Architected and helped build the CUE platform. * Reported regularly to investors on development progress and roadmap. * Gathered usability data through a combination of web usage software, customer surveys and SaaS usability tools.

PGi is a global provider of audio, web and mobile conferencing and collaboration solutions. * Led rapid prototype teams to test new feature and product ideas. We prototyped over twenty different features and product ideas with five of those eventually becoming products or official features in existing products. * Built those teams via a combination of offshore, onshore and inhouse development teams with some teams in excess of fifteen members. * Worked closely with other organizations to hand off prototypes that were ready to become full products. * Evaluated potential merger and acquisition candidate companies for the executive team.

GiFTgive was an online donation platform that was designed to help nonprofit organizations obtain more donations via custom links to Amazon. * Built development team of eight employees consisting of development, testing, usability, product management and support. * Reported regularly to advisory board and investors. * Architected web and mobile applications. * Worked closely with customers and stakeholders to gather data on product features and usage. * Helped company bring in over $240k in donations over three years.

MemberClicks offers all the tools that membership organizations need to make the most of the web. From online databases and event registrations to custom-designed websites and member communities, their product lines are tailor-made for professional associations, trade associations and chambers of all sizes. * Led product development teams including product management, architecture, development, quality and IT. * Drove architectural overhaul to increase integration and flexibility on the platform. * Increased team size from four to fifteen. * Championed the creation of user experience, quality engineering and production support departments resulting in quality improvement and a 50% decline in production defects.

Silverpop develops an email and engagement marketing suite of web-based solutions enabling companies worldwide to build relationships with customers and prospects through the creation, automation and delivery of online messaging. * Led a team of nine Java and Ruby engineers. Responsibilities included interviewing, hiring and onboarding new talent, developing growth plans, driving development best practices and facilitating team-building exercises. * Implemented and led Innovation Lab team to prototype new features and products outside of the normal customer delivery process. * Directed integration of acquired software companies. Worked on-site with teams to integrate all development processes. * Championed Agile methodologies throughout organization. Kicked off new teams into the process and worked regularly with nine agile teams to maximize performance and adapt to changing business needs. These process initiatives helped drive down the production release cycle by seven months. * Drove several development initiatives including adoption of unit testing, continuous integration, refactoring training for less experienced engineers, leadership training for technical leads and Java training. Initiatives reduced post-production bug counts by more than 70%.
