Experience

Director Of Software Engineering
Redwood City, California
As the director of the software team, I led a group of over 50 engineers including sr. managers, principal engineers, architects, sw QA engineers, testers, DevOps engineers and contractors. In addition to supporting the Monarch Platform install base and delivering multiple software releases in the field, I organized the team to support multiple development projects in parallel and worked cross-functionally within the organization. In 18 months, more than 2000 procedures were successfully performed on patients with the Monarch Platform.

Sr Manager Software Engineering
As a Sr Manager, I successfully led the software development teams as well as the Software Quality and testing team throughout the entire product development lifecycle, from prototyping to verification and full commercialization of the Monarch Robotic Platform used for Bronchoscopy procedures. The system is now successfully deployed in multiple hospitals across the country and patients are getting diagnosed on a daily basis using the Monarch platform. I collaborated closely with the Quality and Regulatory teams to author essential documentation such as SOP, WI, requirements, risk documents and design documents for the FDA 510k submission and in compliance with IEC62304. I led the software QA team through multiple rounds of verification. I worked cross functionally to build a strategy around system connectivity and data analytics.

Manager of Software Engineering
Redwood Shores, CA
As a manager at Auris, I built and managed the software team of 12 plus engineers. I led the software development of the first robotic platform targeted for endoluminal procedures. I brought the software and the system to first clinical trials. I put in place an agile development process targeted for our regulatory environment and integrated software development best practices. I wrote regulatory documentation to bring the software to clinical trials followed by 510k clearance.

Senior Software Engineer
Redwood Shores, CA
When I joined Auris, I was the first software engineer in a company of 4 people. I started by designing and implementing a C++ software framework to control in real time 6DOF robotic arms with input devices such as haptic master, pendant, joystick to teleoperate a range of surgical instruments. I ran integration and testing on multiple hardware configuration that included different industrial robotic arms. I started to build the team of a few software engineers and put in place the initial development tools and processes.

Staff Software Engineer
I worked in an embedded software development project for on-board satellite camera. I led the software team, managed milestones and priorities for software development. The final product was successfully delivered to the customer and the product was launched in space a few months later.

Senior Engineer
As a software developer at TRT, I worked on a new generation of digital X-ray fluoroscopic imaging system. I led the software team to implement and integrate the real time data acquisition module. I performed cross platform development under QNX and Windows. I designed and implemented GUIs for medical environment and engineering development and I participated in the first tests in a clinical environment. I was also involved in research and experiments in low dose X-ray imaging for cardiac interventions with the new scanning beam digital X-ray system. As a side project I also did some research in medical device interaction with the Microsoft Kinnect and implemented an early prototype.

Research Engineer
Characterization and simulation of 3D deformable objects in a virtual environment. Developed new probabilistic approach based on particle filter to define 3D soft model parameters. Created a 2D simulator under Matlab. Implemented a C++ dynamic 3D simulation environment with Chai3D.

Research Engineer
Software development for medical application in neurosurgery, including 3D model registration, tool tracking, navigation and GUI development. Software development for an autonomous off-road vehicle. Implemented client/server application to remotely control the vehicle over Wifi. Implemented algorithms for vehicle localization. Design GUI for vehicle monitoring and control.
