Founder & Principal Engineer @ everyday dev
About
You have a great concept. Lab tests are looking good. Investors are excited. But here's what you know that they don't: making a prototype work is one thing. Getting it ready for mass production is something else entirely. Firmware that behaves unexpectedly under real-world conditions. Hardware design decisions that seem minor until they become expensive manufacturing mistakes. Regulatory failures that show up at the worst possible time and blow your schedule. That's the gap between prototype and production, and it's where most projects stall. I'm the founder and principal engineer of everyday dev. We're a product design firm that helps teams in the mobility, consumer, medical, and industrial sectors move from concept to production-ready products without unnecessary surprises. Our work focuses on three phases: Discovery: finding your entry point to the market and getting a viable MVP in your hands quickly. Design: engineering robust hardware, predictable firmware, and scalable embedded software (from baremetal to Linux) so your product performs outside the lab, not just on paper. Delivery: navigating regulatory testing (FCC, CE, UL) and providing on/off-shore manufacturing support so your product is built reliably, on time, and to spec. We work with teams either end-to-end or as targeted expertise where it matters most. Either way, IP stays with you. Lead Firmware Engineer
Astrohaus builds distraction-free writing tools for modern authors. Our team of creative and technical professionals have a true passion for creating products that holistically approach the problem of maximizing productivity in our distraction-filled world. Astrohaus uses crowdfunding and a direct-to-consumer business model to launch products to its community of enthusiastic creatives. Astrohaus' flagship product, the Freewrite Smart Typewriter, was launched in 2014 on Kickstarter and raised $200k in the first 20 hours of the campaign. Since then writers in 50+ countries have cumulatively written over 350 million words on their Freewrite devices.

Senior Embedded Engineer
Indianapolis, Indiana, United States
Embedded design engineer responsible for new product development and testing to meet client technical needs. This role has granted experience with: - Writing embedded firmware for ARM M0+, M4 and M7 cores from Atmel, Nordic, NXP and ST - Developing IoT applications in C and Python to be deployed to wireless battery powered edge devices - Creating custom Embedded Linux images using Yocto to integrate custom Device Tree, Kernel Config and Device Drivers - Creating GUI applications for product control, data capture and testing in ElectronJS and C# - Utilize Bluetooth and WiFi communication to provide wireless connectivity to IoT devices - Deploying Amazon Web Services (AWS) for IoT device management, data collection and storage - Implementing embedded firmware unit testing using the Ceedling framework (Unit & CMock) - Utilize Github CI/CD to deliver consistent, tested applications to embedded devices - Documenting system architecture, device design, and product use instructions

Firmware Engineer
Carmel, IN
Worked with the Schlage new product development team to develop the next generation of Residential and Commercial electronic locks, RFID card readers, and exit devices. - Developed real time embedded systems using FreeRTOS and MQX - Designed and implemented new firmware on ARM M0+ and M4 Cortex microcontrollers - Debugged firmware using tools such as the Keil ULINK Pro2 debugger, Salae Logic Analyzer, TotalPhase Beagle Protocol Analyzer, and the TotalPhase Aardvark Host Adapter. - Applied Agile-like practices within VSTS (Visual Studios Team Services / Azure DevOps) - Utilized Git for source revision control and Azure DevOps as the remote repository location

Firmware Engineering Intern
Carmel, IN
- Assisted in firmware development, testing, and debugging of Microchip and NXP (Freescale) embedded microcontrollers - Revised and further developed an in-house tool using C++ to generate firmware packages for multi processor targets - Assisted in piloting and implementing Visual Studio Team System (VSTS) to explore the effectiveness of transitioning all future projects to VSTS for project management, source code version control, and test case management
