About

From our delivery of a new yacht across the Mediterranean and another one across the English Channel, we took off on our own boat to France. This year we have covered in the reqion of 2000 km and many 100s of locks cruising in the French waterways again. We have decided to take our house off furnished holiday lettings, after 8 successful years, and enjoy living at home for a while. We are still planning on spending some time in Holland in 2015. About me: Professional Submarine Weapon Engineer (one of the few to also qualify for a Bridge Watchkeeping Certificate) while serving in the Royal Navy, specialising in SIGINT and Signature Reduction (not common bed fellows.) I found my way through the years into teaching sailing, motor cruising (larger motor boats) and powerboating (RIBs and small powerboats). Qualified Yachtmaster Instructor (Sail) in 2009 and completed the very first 2 RYA sailing courses in the Black Sea, out of Mangalia in Romania. We have also worked as skipper and mate in the Caribbean and also done some delivery work but we are now, in the main, retired and loving it.

We spent a season running a Privilege 51 catamaran out of Bequia for the Tradewinds Cruise Club, only returning to UK when Barbara became unwell and required an operation. It was hard work and great fun, working as skipper and dive master for 8 guests each week.

GREAT NEWS: Stewart-White Marine Services is now an RYA 'Recognised Teaching Centre' for teaching Navigation Theory, VHF and First Aid Courses. In addition to these courses under our own flag, Barbara and I provide instruction services to other RYA sea schools and also own boat coaching in power and sail. We also provide a skipper and mate service, boat delivery and pretty much anything you need on the water that involves boats.
