Stephen Reimer

I am now serving as an Associate Fellow with the Centre for Finance and Security, supporting its research and activities on CFT and human rights impacts of the FATF system.

I led the Centre for Finance and Security's research agenda on terrorist financing and countering the financing of terrorism (CFT), including for its flagship CFT initiative Project CRAAFT.

As Assistant Editor, I provided content/copy-editing, proofreading and project management service across all of the institute's publications. I managed the type-setting and design of articles for the Newsbrief online magazine, and also commission articles for the publication from external authors.

As an Editorial Assistant I provided administrative and editorial support to the Publications team. I also edited and proofread articles and report for clarity, accuracy, substance and style. I managed the production process of over 20 research papers and reports, from manuscript submission to publication.

I convene the course "Illicit Finance, Financial Intelligence and Security" for Masters students studying within the Paris School of International Affairs.

I served as a Junior Policy Adviser with the Permanent Mission of Canada to the UN in New York. I reported on events at UN headquarters, including meetings of the Security Council and Peacebuilding Commission. I drafted over 100 diplomatic reports with analysis on developments related to Canada’s foreign policy objectives. Additionally, I was in charge of content creation, approval, and translation for the mission’s bilingual Twitter account, and provided social media and communications support for high-level visits by the Prime Minister and Cabinet.

Main duties included copy-editing academic articles published in "The Middle East Journal". First printed in 1947, it is the oldest peer-reviewed publication dedicated solely to the study of the Middle East. I also prepared daily news digests and scholarly book annotations for inclusion in the journal, and provided logistical support for conferences and events hosted by the Institute.
